Not much singing in the sing a long

First let me say that I went to this event since my wife wanted to go for her birthday. I was still disappointment in that not many people were singing, and there were very few times the crowd had some fun things to do during the movie. Sure, there was flashlights during one scene, and hissing / booing for the villains, but not as much as I thought there might be. Then again, I don't really understand why people clap at the end of movies. Bottom line, it was an expensive movie to see and we were sitting just below the lawn seats.

The Sound of Music

I had the privilege to see a greets performance of The Sound of Music at the Athenaeum Theater in chicago on Saturday at 730pm. The performance was performed by The Chamber Opera of Chicago which was a treat to bring out the wonderful music within this score. The main attraction of the entire show was Mother Abbess's rendition of Climb Every Mountain this brought tears to the audience as well to myself it was performed by Erika Morrison which so grand in her performance the audience stood to their feet with applause after she finished. Over all the show was very good in the sets, lighting & great costumes. In closing Erika Morrison (Mother Abbess) should be considered to to perform this on the Broadway stage if they do a revival . Bravo!!

Surprised how much I loved it

I see some people commenting on how the play has been "changed from the movie". The real-life events occurred first, then Maria wrote a book about them (then others), then came the Broadway play, then the movie. I loved the movie so much, that I read her books and visited the Von Trapp lodge in Stowe Vermont. I'd not seen the play until this one at Drury Lane. I was prepared to be disappointed, but I had a smile on my face the entire show. What huge talent! And how lucky we all are to get to hear award-winning Broadway actress Patti Cohenour, who played Mother Abbess on Broadway in 1998. Every time she sang "Climb Every Mountan" I had tears in my eyes.
